Dear Editor,
On 13th January, 2018, the African Nations Championship (CHAN) kicks off in Morocco.
Zambia is in the same group with Uganda, Namibia and Ivory Coast.
Zambia that is ranked 15th in Africa and 74th in the world by FIFA and must win the 2018 CHAN edition at all costs.
We won’t accept any excuse from FAZ and coach Wedson Nyirenda this time around.
We won’t entertain stories of ‘we are building the team’ or ‘we are going back to the drawing board’.
This time we must spare the board as it has plenty of drawings.
The improved FIFA rankings must now translate into victories. We want the cup on 4 the February, 2018.
And while still at the subject of soccer, I wish to point to the FAZ President Andrew Kamanga concerning the status of division one league in 2018.
I want to know if the four zones will continue or we are going to revert to the competitive national league in 2018.
The current set up is not very competitive apart from zone two made up of Copperbelt and North Western province teams like Konkola Blades, Mufulira wanderers, Roan united and Kansanshi Dynamos.
Lastly, I would like to find out from FAZ if they have plans to look for sponsors for the Division one league and second cup completion in Zambia to supplement the solo efforts of Barclays Bank.
Wishing all the national teams all the best in 2018 as we strive to qualify to the 2019 AfCON.
