Choma police nab 4 suspected robbers

POLICE in Choma have arrested four suspects linked to the current robberies in district where workers at various lodges have been targets of attack.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police Bonny Kapeso has confirmed the development in a statement released to the Daily Nation in Livingstone.

Mr. Kapeso said that those arrested are Kelvin Malambo, 22, Brian Silemu, 25, and Joseph mulenga, 19, while the fourth, has been identified as given Santana, 17, all of Zambia compound in Choma.

He said that the suspects were picked on Sunday following a tip from members of the public.

“The quartet has been terrorizing people and grabbing their items between 19:00hrs and 22:00hrs, especially workers from lodges. They are currently in police custody and will soon appear before the courts of law charged with robbery,” He said.

In another development, Sinazeze Police have also arrested the fifth suspect associated with the murders reported in the area where another four suspected killers were nabbed last week.

The fifth suspect, identified as Kausa Muchindu, 41 of Siamakoli village in Pemba district, is reported to be the chief manufacturer and supplier of the homemade guns used in the killings of innocent people in Sinazongwe area.

He said that Muchindu will be jointly charged with the other four suspects.
