Church continues preaching peace

ZAMBIA must maintain peace as the country prepares for the August 12 general elections, the Embassy Christ Refuge Church (ECRC) has said.

ECRC overseer, Vida Kanaan, said in Livingstone that there was no need whatsoever for any political player or citizen top engage in violence.

Pastor Kannan observed the need for Zambians to commit the country to God for continued peace and unity as the country heads to the polls.

He echoed the need for holding a peaceful election and encouraged citizens to look up to God.

Pastor Kanaan said that Zambia was known for peace as Christian Nation and therefore, political violence and confusion must not be allowed.

At the same Church service, Patriotic Front (PF) Livingstone parliamentary aspiring candidate Mutinta Matimba said all Zambians must remain united and believe in God for peaceful elections.

She added that Zambia had held successful elections in the past and had gained recognition in Africa and beyond.

She stressed that election was about ideas and not about causing violence and nothing should be done to destroy the peace the country was enjoying.

Ms Matimba was invited by the Church to join in celebrating its first day to gather at the land it has acquired and also lay the foundation of the alter.
