Explain youth’s role in politics, Bishop tells parties

ALL political parties must have a clear roadmap on how they will involve young people in this year’s coming elections, says Mansa Catholic Diocese Bishop Patrick Chisanga.

Bishop Chisanga notes that young people have a lot which they can contribute towards the development of the country. He said the youth should be fully involved in the governance of the country as opposed to just using them as political ladders.

Bishop Chisanga was speaking during Youth Mass yesterday at the Mansa Cathedral to mark this year’s Youth Day. He said political parties should make use of the potential which young people have and not mislead them by engaging in political violence. He pointed out that politicians should not take advantage of the vulnerability of the young people by engaging them in bad vices which can destroy the peace of this nation.

“When we look at the young people we should be looking at them as people who can bring positive change in the country and whom we need to properly guide and groom,” said Bishop Chisanga.

The Bishop explained that as the country goes to the polls this year, youths should always remain vigilant so that they can make informed decisions. Bishop Chisanga indicated that young people should always know that the decisions which they make today will affect their future. He said young people must always try to make the right decisions in life as whatever decision they make will have a bearing on their future.
