PARLIAMENTARY gratuities and benefits are making expelled members and traitors refuse to resign and hold on to the ruling party.
Patriotic Front Mandevu constituency secretary, Lemmy Bwalya charged in Lusaka yesterday that their behaviour is not love for their electorates as they claim.
Mr Bwalya said one member only resigned and resorted to baseless allegations following hints, and possible reshuffles of members holding clandestine meetings.
He reiterated that expelled members and traitors who have been asked to resign from the ruling party were failing to do so because their gratuities were at stake.
Mr Bwalya said that people should not be fooled or insulted, even cheated that the self-centred politicians had resigned from ministerial positions because of the love they had for their electorates.
“Expelled members are holding on to the party not to serve the people who voted for them, but to finish their terms so that they can be paid gratuities at the expense of representing people in the Parliament.
“The revelations and allegations against government by those fired and who resigned, after having a hint of possible reshuffles is a clear indication that some MPs have swayed from their tasks,” he said.
Mr Bwalya said it was a lie for members to claim that they had left government because they did not agree with the current style of leadership.
Mr Bwalya challenged the parliamentarians to heed to calls for them to resign from the ruling party if they were genuine as they claimed.
“As the constituency that produces the highest votes for the President, we wish to alert our colleagues from the constituencies where the noise makers come from that the people they entrusted to represent them, are holding on to the party not to serve them,” Mr Bwalya said.
