By PRINCE CHIBAWAH

CHISHIMBA Kambwili claims he was fired as minister because he made more money than President Edgar Lungu.

And Mr Kambwili was yesterday taken to task by radio callers claiming that he brutalised them when he served in government.

Mr Kambwili made the disclosure when he featured on Radio Phoenix’s “Let the people talk” programme to clarify certain issues including his inconsistent statements on matters of public interest and the unsubstantiated corruption allegations against government officials.

Last year, Mr Kambwili boasted in an interview with Millennium Radio that he was so rich he could fly to the United Kingdom in the morning, have tea and fly back for lunch in Zambia.

Mr Kambwili said he made a lot of money with the help of his company, Mwamona Engineering, but this did not please President Lungu and that was the ground for his dismissal.

“I run a company called Mwamona Engineering… How much do I earn from that business? Go and ask Anti-Corruption Commission,” Mr Kambwili boasted.

Mwamona Engineering was the same company government engaged to construct a market in Mwense but it abandoned the project after some funds were released towards the construction.

Meanwhile, several people calling the station told Mr Kambwili that he was a bully who violated the rights of several Zambians especially those he perceived to be his political opponents.

A caller identified himself as Mr Maliwe, spoke out on how his life was turned upside down by Mr Kambwili for merely questioning him over alleged corrupt activities he was involved in when he served as Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development.

“Chishimba Kambwili you are one of the most corrupt people. That I cannot even beat about the bush. When you were in government I spoke about corruption and I was put under pressure by you. You followed me to UNZA radio. If you had found me there you were going to chop my neck.”

Mr Maliwe, who is commonly known as Bashi  Fabregas, narrated that Mr Kambwili also sent a team of police officers to fix him.

“You made me leave Lusaka because of your brutal conduct.”

Mr Maliwe also reminded Mr Kambwili that the sins he committed while in government would forever haunt him unless he repented and apologised to those he offended, including Mr Maliwe himself.

But Mr Kambwili who had difficulties to pronounce the name Fabregas, failed to address Mr Maliwe’s concerns instead he accused him of being an agent of State House paid to denounce him.

Another caller, Bwalya, challenged Mr Kambwili to stop pretending to be a messiah of the same people he victimised using his previous government portfolios.
