Langa implores Chilongolo residents to form cooperatives

By Mwansa Pintu

The residents of Chilongolo Ward, in Makeni area, have been urged to form cooperatives so that they can easily access empowerment funds from the party and Government.

Chilanga Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament Maria Langa said this  at Chilongolo Basic School on Saturday when she received 150 United Party for National Development (UPND) members who defected to the ruling party.

She said the PF was a caring party whose interest was to uplift the life standards of the people especially the poor.

She assured the defectors that her constituency leadership would take “very good care” of them as they were now just like any other PF members.

“You are all my children and I will look after you,” she said.

She assured that she was more than determined to work with President Edgar Lungu to ensure that the people of Chilongolo also received their fair share of development.

And speaking at the same function earlier, former UPND Chilongolo Ward Youth Chairman, Bonyolo Mwale, said his executive and some members decided to defect to the filling party because it is a progressive party.

Another defector, Clever Daka, said President Lungu and Honourable Maria Langa had shown them that they cared about the people of Chilongolo area and therefore they decided to reinforce the PF party membership in order to support the developmental efforts taking place in that area.

And addressing the defectors, PF Chilanga Constituency chairlady, Rabecca Mushinge, urged the defectors to help grow the party in the area saying “your interest should not be about occupying leadership positions but growing the party here.”

She urged them to support the leadership of Ms Langa because she had so far shown that she was capable of taking development to Chilongolo.

“She has brought tarred roads to Chilongolo and has ensured that Chilongolo Primary School is upgraded to a secondary school,” said Ms. Mushinge.

Meanwhile, PF Namalombwe Ward executive has resolved to support Ms  Langa’s adoption for re-election as Chilanga MP saying she has so far exhibited capability to develop the constituency.

Speaking to the Daily Nation, Ward Chairman Boniface Mwenge said his executive had resolved to rally behind Ms  Langa because she has worked to take development to the area.
