PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says government will not be distracted by the proverbial armchair critics who are always politicking.

President Lungu however said he shall continue working for the majority of the Zambian people who are not as privileged as some of his critics.

The President said  the people of Zambia need improved infrastructure, like roads to get to the markets among other things.

The Head of State has since called upon call all well-meaning Zambians to ignore the naysayers.

President Lungu said this when he commissioned the Munali Flyover bridge in Lusaka yesterday.

He said a project such as the Lusaka decongestion which is a major contributor to the socio-economic development of this country, needs to be expedited and concluded to allow for more of such projects to be developed in other parts of the country.

He noted that under his leadership, PF government has continued with its quest to unlock the economic potential of the country and transform its socio-economic landscape through infrastructure development.

“Our massive infrastructure development programme is also part of our efforts to transform the face of our country through urban revitalization, therefore PF government has continued to facilitate the massive development of infrastructure across the country. And President Lungu further said Government has made huge strides in infrastructural development as it transforms the face of Lusaka.

President Lungu said the significance of the Lusaka decongestion project to resolving the traffic problem in Lusaka cannot be over-emphasized.  The Head of State explained that the project was necessitated by increased congestion in Lusaka arising from increased number of vehicles on the roads.

He said  the effects of traffic congestion on productivity as well as standards of living on the people are dire, and ultimately impact the economy.

Meanwhile, Indian ambassador to Zambia Ngulkham Jathom Gangte said the two governments will continue to work together to foster development

Mr Gangte said for the country to develop there is need to have proper road network.
