MANAGEMENT at Fairy Bottling Company in Lusaka, the manufacturers of Aquasavana mineral water, has dismissed media reports indicating that their water was not safe for consumption as it tested positive for faecal contamination at a known Lusaka clinic.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday, chief executive officer, Mohamed El Sahili accused rival firms of being behind the smear campaign to dent the image of his company.
Dr Sahili explained that several tests of Aquasavana mineral water had been conducted by independent laboratories whose results came out negative for faecel contamination.
“As a company, we have always been confident about Aquasavana and have been advocating for the use of the best methods in bottled mineral water production, therefore we will continue to provide the best quality product possible and even strive to be first to learn and utilize whatever new cutting edge technique that may come up to ensure we remain on top of the market, said Dr Sahili.
And Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) director Manuel Mutale, explained that contrary to the alleged contaminated Aquasavana mineral water, the product met the required compliance standards to the Zambian Standard ZS 388.
Mr Mutale thanked Fairy Company of being compliant to the Zambian standard market by putting ZABS certification for the required standards on their products.
“I would like to thank Aquasavana Company for the support rendered in this matter including their involvement in standards development activities, “said Mr Mutale.
