OVER 3,000 farmers have received farming inputs in Mporokoso under the e-voucher system for the 2017-2018 farming season.
Mporokoso District Commissioner Bridget Chitundu told the Daily Nation that this has enabled farmers to cultivate on time and it will contribute to the food security of the country.
She disclosed that out of the targeted 5,727 beneficiaries, 3,730 farmers have so far received inputs with 2,681 e-vouchers card activated.
“I am applauding the current government for it’s continued support in promoting agriculture development through provision of inputs and purchasing of various crops grown by the farmers,” she said.
And Shadreck Mpongwe, a farmer has thanked government for assisting them with farming inputs.
He has called on all farmers to plan ahead for the next farming seasons to supplement government efforts in developing the agricultural sector.
Mr Mpongwe has since challenged the farmers to inculcate a culture of saving if they are to meet their needs on time.
