The Road Development Agency (RDA) has been urged to re-do the entire Lumumba Road and stop filling up the potholes which are not offering a permanent solution to the infrastructure which has now become a death trap.
Mr Morgan Chumbi said patching of potholes did not present a good idea because the soil used in the process easily got washed away by rains forcing RDA to revisit the road on many occasions.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Chumbi said that what RDA was doing was a sheer waste of time and resources, adding that the potholes that were being worked on had not improved the flow of traffic on the road but had done the opposite.
“The road is very bad but the RDA is not doing its job professionally. Look at the traffic, it’s because of the potholes and why are they working on it during the day when they should have worked on it at night when there is less traffic,” he said.
Mr Chumbi urged RDA to construct a new road like it had promised once the rainy season was over.
He said that patching of potholes as a short term solution was not a good idea.
Meanwhile another motorist only identified as Chomba expressed disappointment over the works RDA was doing, adding that from the time it started patching potholes on Lumumba Road there was no improvement.
“This road is not okay and there is need to work on it seriously. It needs a total overhaul but they are always mending it. This is not the first time they are doing it,” he said.
RDA spokesperson Anthony Mulowa could not be immediately reached for a comment.
