South chiefs back Lungu In Sinazongwe

SEVERAL traditional leaders in Southern Province have vowed to remain nonpartisan and support President Edgar Lungu’s government in alleviating poverty levels among the people of Southern and the nation at large.

Senior Chief Sinazongwe, who spoke on
behalf of other traditional leaders, said this yesterday at the national cotton field day which was graced by President Edgar Lungu at Nzenga
Irrigation farm in Sinazongwe.

Earlier, Senior Chief Mweemba and Chief
Sinazongwe of the Tonga speaking people in Southern province urged President Lungu to ignore and not be derailed by what some people where saying about him BUT to concentrate on working for the people of
Zambia.

Chief Mweemba said President
Lungu was one of the most hardworking Presidents Zambia has ever had.

Speaking before the field day
commemoration when President Lungu paid a courtesy call on them at Chief Sinazongwe’s palace, the chief told President Lungu that he was a very hard working President who should not be derailed by what others were saying.

Chief Mweemba said he had been watching on TV all the development projects which President Lungu’s administration was implementing, adding that he was impressed.

“You are welcome please feel free because this is your home. Sinazongwe district is your home,

“You are a very hard working President we have been watching on TV what you have been doing across the country,” he said.

Chiefs Mweemba and Sinazongwe said they were extremely happy to be visited by a sitting Head of State.

And President Lungu said he would work with traditional leaders that were willing to work with his government.

He said those who didn’t want to work with his government should give him space to work.

President Lungu said he expected traditional leaders to work with his government especially in the agriculture sector.

The event was attended by Chief Chona (Monze), Senior Chief Mweemba (Sinazongwe), Chief Chikanta (Kalomo), Chief Singani (Choma), Chief Moomba (Siavonga), Chief Chipepo (Gwembe), Chief Sinadambwa (Siavonga), Chief Simamba (Siavonga) and Chief Shakumbila from Mumbwa district of Central province.
