ONE year after elections, Zambians deserve politics of progress and development and not politics of antagonism which have clouded the development discourse, says Party for National Unity president Highvie Hamududu.
Mr Hamududu said it was not politically healthy that one year after elections, politics of antagonism had taken centre stage when the country was in need of development in many sectors.
In an interview yesterday, the PNP leader urged the ruling Patriotic Front to take a leading role by advocating for development discourse and that the PNP aimed at bringing politics of development and concerns affecting citizens.
He said politics of antagonism had clouded the development discourse and that it was as if the country was still in an election mode.
“As Party for National Unity we want to see politics of development and progress unlike politics of antagonism which have clouded the development discourse and issues affecting citizens.
“It is not politically healthy that one year after elections politics of antagonism and bickering have taken centre stage,” he said.
Mr Hamududu said there were many issues affecting the general citizenry which required attention and intervention.
He said neighbouring Zimbabwe had performed better compared to Zambia in terms of keeping their public buildings tidy and challenged the councils in the country to carry out their job diligently.
Mr Hamududu said most towns had become an eyesore due to indiscriminate disposal of plastic and other non-bio gradable products and wondered what the local authorities were doing.
He called on the government to facilitate and open up borders for farmers to sell their maize which the Food Reserve Agency priced at K60 per 50-kilogramme bag.
