Bring the electricity pylon terrorists to book

Editor,

I still strongly believe that the terrorists who destroyed the electricity pylons should be brought to book now. The Energy Minister, ERB, Police and ZESCO must meet to map out the strategy of bringing these terrorists to book without fail. The damage could not have been done by one person. It was a group of them. As they say, a thief always leaves something of himself at a crime scene. If the police just tried to look around, they will find it. Such behavior is very annoying. This is the country they want to rule yet they also want to destroy it. What kind of thinking is this?

Damage to the electricity
pylons in Kafue

Editor,

The reported damage to the electricity pylons in Kafue should not be described as vandalism but clear terrorism which requires the help of international investigators to assist our police. It also won’t be a bad idea to offer a good reward to whoever can lead them to the arrest of these terrorists who are known to destroy government infrastructure. On the Ndola City Council, my comment is as follows; as I wrote earlier, the Council has been the hatchery of corruption for a long time in Zambia, the action taken on those senior officers and the transfer of some of them to different stations might help to solve the problem partially. The best thing is, never to return the land agency to these people.

Police officers unruly conduct

Editor,

Police officers taking bribes happens every minute countrywide though the worst are those in traffic department. The best solution is to transfer them all to general duties by swapping them. This was once done in Ndola and it worked wonders. Bwana Home Affairs PS must also know that a lot of mini buses are owned by traffic officers hence the mischief of bus drivers on the roads going unpunished. Bus driver’s working for those not in the police are harassed on a daily basis. Female officers also mistreat their fellow female drivers because they carry rationed money. Bwana PS, try a private on spot check for just two days and I am sure you will wake up sweating the following morning.

Lusaka needs two ministers

Editor,

Lusaka needs two ministers to run the affairs of the province, particularly the much talked about relocation of street vendors to proper designated areas because it is now certain that the man who was appointed to tackle the problems of the province has lamentably failed. Most of the times, we have heard of creating lanes as trading areas and yet it appears that there are not enough lanes in the Lusaka. Recently, there was a report from a Kanyama Ward Councilor that there were 8,000 empty stands in the new Soweto market. The rains will soon be with us. The town shopping areas have become a danger to move in. The place has a lot of thieves due to congestion. Not forgetting the dirt which makes it impossible for council workers to clean the areas. What is the minister and his Lusaka Mayor doing about this?

Minister of mines behaving like a war lord

Editor,

It’s true that the Minister of Mines, according to us the people of Kasempa, is behaving like a war-lord in a failed state where law and order irretrievably broken down. The Minister should remember that he will not always enjoy the incumbency of a ruling party and must ask Maxwell Mwale. He may, for reasons only known to the President, be allowed to continue with his propensity to hurt the people of Kasempa in collusion with those raping our mineral wealth in full view of our own Government but a time will soon come when he will not have peace or a place to enjoy the harvest of his impunity.

Is LWSC serious in its operations?

Editor,

I write to your widely read paper on the water wastage by the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company in Kaunda Square near Mwefura and Catholic T-Junction. For a long time now, the water has been spilling into the farrow and yet there are times when people around there have no water and the same happens around Kaunda Square Stage One market. One wonders whether the water utility company is serious in its operations.
