A TRADITIONAL leader has warned his subjects to refrain from threatening civil servants in Mpulungu following reports that a local magistrate and clinical officer had fled Isoko village fearing for their lives.
A local magistrate and a clinical officer from Isoko village in Mpulungu fled the village for fear of being killed by a mob of villagers after a detainee who was due to appear in the murder case of Chief Tafuna, died.
The named magistrate and clinical officer fled to Mpulungu town on 17th of this month for fear of being killed by some villagers.
Sources told the Daily Nation that some villagers planned to vandalise Isoko health post where the deceased was taken awaiting burial.
Meanwhile in an interview yesterday, Mpulungu District Commissioner Dennis Sikazwe said the situation had returned to normal and the villagers had been advised to be civil and refrain from threatening civil servants.
Mr Sikazwe denied claims that Isoko residents had planned to vandalise the rural health centre.
He identified the dead suspect as Musonda Mapulanga and he personally visited Isoko village with other officers yesterday, saying there was a little misunderstanding in the village.
“The situation at Isoko has returned to normal and the magistrate is back in his office as we speak and I’m imploring Isoko residents to respect funeral processions,” Mr Sikazwe said.
Meanwhile, acting Chief Tafuna has sounded a warning to those threatening civil servants in his area will face the wrath of the law.
