National soccer team coach Wedson Nyirenda is this week expected to name his final 23 member squad that will represent the country at the 2018 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).
FAZ Communications manager Desmond Katongo confirmed the development to Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka.
Speaking after the team’s return from Mongu where Nyirenda and his boys had set up camp to prepare for the crucial CHAN tournament, Katongo said that preparations would continue in Lusaka before the Chipolopolo’s leaves for Morocco.
“The Chipolopolo boys have returned from their one week long training camp in Mongu where they were shaping up for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be staged in Morocco, “We still don’t know when the team will depart for Morocco but when that information is made available, we will be able to notify the general public,” Katongo said.
The Chipolopolo Boys are in Group B of the 2018 CHAN tournament which will run from January 12 to February 14.
Zambia will do battle with group B opponents Namibia, Uganda and Ivory Coast and will face the Cranes on January 14 in their opening match.
Zambia will making its third appearance at the championship after finishing third in 2009 and in 2016 where they were eliminated in the quarterfinal stage.
