…as Kabwe outfit goes down 2-0 to 9-man Zanaco in Lusaka

By GRACE CHAILE

LESOETSA

NOT-so-magnificent Kabwe Warriors’ misery continued yesterday, losing 2-0 to 9-man Zanaco in a Week 14 fixture played at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The Kabwe outfit lacked cohesion and cutting edge, especially in a sluggish first half when they conceded both goals.

Defender Boyd Musonda fired Zanaco in front with a 40th minute long range shot from an Augustine Mulenga pass before goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata converted a penalty five minutes later to make it 2-0.

Warriors could have avoided the second goal but goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga smashed the ball he plucked from the air into Zanaco’s Adamson Mulao’s head.

The bankers started the opening half on a fast note with Ernest Mbewe, Augustine and Saith Sakala putting pressure on the Warriors goalkeeper.

After the break, Warriors created a few chances but Paul Simpemba, Lameck Kafwaya and Jacob Phiri failed miserably failed to find the net.

Zanaco went two-men down after Augustine and Chongo Chirwa were sent off for dangerous play.

The Chintu Kampamba tutored Warriors with 13 points have a record of one win, 10 draws and three losses after 14 games while Zanaco moved to third place on 22 points with three matches in hand.

At Nakonde grounds, Zeddy Saileti was a happy man after his side Lumwana Radiants massacred hosts Real Nakonde 3-0. Simon Nkhata opened the scores in the ninth minute before Obed Masumbuko turned in a second goal four minutes later.

Chanda Mushili completed the rout in the 76th minute to ensure Lumwana bagged the vital three points.

At Shinde Stadium in Mufulira, Mufulira Wanderers registered their eighth loss this season with a 2-1 defeat to resilient Napsa Stars.

Wanderers took the lead in the fifth minute through Guily Manziba but Collins Sikombe overturned the result, scoring a brace.

He equalised in the 24th and scored the winner in 35th minutes of play.

Austin Muwowo could have equalised for Wanderers but his goal was disallowed as he fouled goalkeeper Rabson Muchelenganga.

Napsa maintained second position on 25 points, a point behind Lusaka Dynamos.

Nakambala Leopards drew 1-1 with Red Arrows.
