We are playing with fire

Dear Editor

I hope those who matter realise that we are playing with fire by allowing international capital interfere with our internal politics. They do not mean well for us.

The voices from the European Union questioning our democracy are a reflection of the position that their local agents in Zambia have taken. It can therefore be expected that no amount of explanation to the international community will suffice because their powerful lobbies have accelerated propaganda against Zambia.

We should not take what is happening lightly because it reflects what international capital expected to happen in Zambia in the last elections and would indeed want to happen.

We must guard our nation jealously because the forces ranged against us are powerful. They have potent mass media reach and diplomatic overkill so as to dilute the truth and present us as yet another African basket case.

These enemies are more powerful than “zero option”. These even have a newspaper that is daily spewing disinformation and propaganda which is designed to show that unless their interests are accommodated they will not let the nation rest peacefully.

It is my sincere hope that  those entrusted with oversight are seriously looking at the developing trend to ensure that our democracy is not subverted and that our pillars of Governance are not subverted and sacrificed at the altar of political expediency.

Our curse is the mineral endowment bequeathed to us. International capital will not allow us free reign. The rapine force of acquisition will not rest until it has once again taken control of resources which they lost at the time of mine privatisation when the extent of their control spread over the entire mineral rich areas of our country.

 Let there be no doubt that we are under siege and unless we manage our affairs and remain resolute we shall be overwhelmed by disinformation and propaganda.

We are a sovereign country which must be respected  by all regardless of their financial muscle; This is the message that Zambia must send out.
