NEWLY promoted MTN/FAZ Super League side City of
Lusaka says it will bounce back from the 1-nil loss to
Choma’s Green Eagles in the FAZ Week One fixture played at the
National Heroes Stadium.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka, ‘’City Yamoto” head coach Elijah Chikwanda said he was impressed with the way his boys performed despite losing to Green Eagles.

Chikwanda said his lads played according to instructions despite having made a few mistakes which prevented City from collecting a positive result against Eagles.

The former Lusaka Dynamos head coach, who joined City when the Chilenje-based outfit was promoted to the Super Division, said City will be able to handle the pressure that come with playing in the top flight.

“We just have to work on the mistakes we made in the game against Eagles. We will pick up from there, then we will see where we will be.

“We still have a lot of games to play and my boys played well despite having faced a few challenges with some of our players whose registration cards were not out yet. But all in all they played well and I was impressed and I think they will improve as we go on,” Chikwanda said.

Chikwanda said there are no big teams in the league.

He noted that Zambia’s representatives in CAF tournaments,
Zanaco and Zesco United, are just like any other teams in the MTN/FAZ Super League.

“There are no big teams in football, it’s just a matter of the way you approach each and every game and I think my team will be able to handle the so-called big teams in the league,” Chikwanda said.

The fixture against Green Eagles was Yamoto’s first appearance in the MTN/FAZ League since 2010.

City of Lusaka’s next game will be against Mufulira Wonderers in a Week 2 fixture at Shinde stadium.
