THERE was laughter in a Local Court in Lusaka when a woman said that she was having problems with her husband because he doesn’t make love to her since they got married and that when she asks him he says he doesn’t have feelings.

This is in a case in which Rebecca Haluumba, 20, of Garden House compound sued her husband, Amon Nangamba for divorce on allegation that they were having misunderstanding since they got married.

The two got married on November 23, 2016 and they don’t have a child.

Haluumba told Senior Court Magistrate Mubukwanu Matakala sitting with Magistrates Abbyshine Michelo and Esther Mulomba at Kanyama Local Court that they only stayed together with Nangamba for a month and half.

She explained that they were having marital disputes because Nangamba failed to perform in bed.

Haluumba added that from the beginning of their relationship, they would go out but that each time she asked Nangamba to make love, he insisted on no sex before marriage.

Haluumba further said that she asked Nangamba what the problem was and he said he had no feelings, adding that he was undergoing treatment.

“I told our matron about the problem and she said that we should wait for a month. We separated in January 2017 because Nangamba asked for more time but since then he hasn’t come for me,’’ said Haluumba. In cross-examination, Haluumba said that she saw the child of Nangamba from the other woman but she did not believe because he failed to make love to her (Haluumba).

In defence, Nangamba said that Haluumba used to deny him conjugal rights, saying she was just forced to get married to him.

He explained that in January 2017, Haluumba packed and went to her parents and that when he followed her, her sister shouted at him and said he was not man enough in bed.

In submission, Haluumba said that she wanted divorce, saying that she could not continue to stay with Nangamba because he did not make love to her.

Passing judgment, Magistrate Matakala said that there was a problem in marriage due to lack of conjugal rights.

He granted the couple divorce without compensation and that property acquired together would be shared equally.
