I AM delighted to learn that Zambia is a model among Third World countries in the implementation of various programmes by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), President Edgar Lungu has observed.

Speaking when an IFAD delegation accompanied by a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) delegation led by U.N. resident coordinator Janet Rogan paid a courtesy call on him at State House yesterday, President Lungu said he felt humbled that IFAD had rewarded Zambia additional funding as a result of the country’s success stories in agriculture. “This is the kind of discourse my Government cherishes.

I welcome the generous support they have been rendering to Zambia over the years and in particular the new commitment that IFAD has made to help take our agricultural sector to higher levels.” President Lungu said. President Lungu also assured the delegation of Government’s full support as well as his personal commitment to ensuring that the collaboration realised tangible results to uplift the livelihoods of the poor especially in rural areas. IFAD has rewarded Zambia additional funding to support its agricultural projects especially in the Livestock and Fisheries sectors.
