LUANSHYA Mayor, Nathan Chanda, has encouraged all registered voters to take advantage of the five-day period for the physical voter verification exercise.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set Monday 29 to Friday April 2, this year for physical verification of the voters register.

“I am encouraging voters in Luanshya to take advantage of the Inspection exercise to check the accuracy of details on the voter’s card or make replacement of a voter’s card in cases of lost, damaged, destroyed, or defaced voter’s cards,” he said.

Mr Chanda said voters that could be transferred from one polling station to another, object to a name appearing in the Register of Voters as well as make notification for deceased persons to be removed from the register.

The mayor who is also Roan PF aspiring parliamentary candidate further encouraged residents and other stakeholders such as the Church, traditional Leaders, civic, political leaders and NGO’s to help ECZ sensitise the public over the importance of this exercise.

He discouraged them against waiting for the last days to verify their details.

Mr Chanda said people should not wait for the last minute to verify thereby causing panic and asking for an extension.
