THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has dismissed claims by the United Party for National Development president, Mr Hakainde Hichilema that it was under pressure to disqualify him from the August 12 polls.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Patrick Nshindano said that Mr.Hichilema was just making wild claims as most political parties always do when they fail to do the right thing.
Mr. Nshindano explained that the reason Mr Hichilema’s nomination took time to be processed was because the documents were not in the order that they were supposed to be.
“It is very unfortunate that some political parties fail to do the right thing and in the end blame the commission of trying to disenfranchise them,” he said.
Mr Nshindano added that the ECZ would not stoop so low as to disadvantage one individual to participate in an election as it has nothing to gain from that.
