PROGRESS is on course for a new boys boarding school being built by the Archdiocese of Lusaka, to commence classes soon, on a day release basis, Lusaka Archbishop, Dr Alick Banda has said.

The ultra-modern school, named after the late Archbishop of Lusaka, Adrian Mung’andu, will be the first of its kind in the Archdiocese of Lusaka (Lusaka Province and parts of Central Province).

Archbishop Banda told a joint Catholic Men’s and Women’s  Organisation delegation that the first phase will be on a day-release basis.

The Archbishop affirmed that the second phase will constitute additional academic infrastructure, boarding facilities, housing for teachers and support staff, and sports facilities.

The institution, located in Njolwe Area of Chongwe, south-east of Lusaka, will comprise three streams in junior high (Grades 8-9) and two streams in high (10-12) school. As part of the orientation programme, the Archbishop arranged a conducted project site tour for the newly constituted executive boards of the Catholic Men’s Organisation  and the Catholic Women’s Organisation of the Archdiocese of Lusaka.

And responding to a question from a participant during the half-day orientation programme held at St Mary’s Secondary for the newly constituted executive boards Archbishop Banda disclosed that he received the Covid-19 vaccine, a few days ago.

The Archbishop urged the participants to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures against Covid-19.

He emphasised that the Covid-19 virus was still potent and is actually mutating in some parts of the world, hence the need for sustained precautions.
