OVER 100, 000 ZAMBIANS VACCINATED

MORE than 100, 000 Zambians have been vaccinated against the Covid-19, Ministry of health permanent secretary Technical Service Dr Kennedy Malama disclosed this in Lusaka yesterday.

 Following the vaccination of 4,943 persons against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the cumulative number of those vaccinated now stands at 100,373.

Dr Kennedy Malama has since applauded all those who have made a decision to be vaccinated as this is conferring extra protection against Covid-19.

Dr Malama however disclosed that in the last 24 hours, Zambia recorded  94 new confirmed cases  of Covid-19 out of 4,940 tests conducted giving  1.9% positivity, spread across all the provinces.

Dr Malama said this brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases recorded to date to 92,357.

He however expressed concerne in the cluster of cases being noted in some districts across the country.

” Today we note clusters in Zambezi District from Dipalata mission area and Solwezi among others. Our Disease surveillance and epidemic response teams led by the Zambia National public Health Institute are on the ground to contact trace, identify those infected for further management.

” Therefore, there is  need for everyone   to avert any further spread of the Covid-19 .l,” he said.

And Dr Malama has urged the general public to continually adhere to the five golden rules of masking up correctly and consistently,  maintaining physical distance and washing hands frequently or using hand sanitizer.

He added that people should also avoid crowded places if possible, particularly super spreader events, or stay at home.

He is happy that no death from  Covid-19 has been recorded in the last 24 hours.
