CHIPATA WATER BLUES IRK SOKO

By NOEL IYOMBWA

IT IS disappointing that 57 years after independence some residents of Chipata are drinking water from shallow wells   Chipata Central Constituency independent candidate Zindaba Soko has said.

Mr Soko said in an interview following a tour of some wards, particularly, Nyakutwa in Musanga ward, that he was concerned with lack of clean drinking water.

He observed that some residents in the constituency have not had clean drinking water since independence and depended on shallow wells.

Mr Soko said this had to stop because hand pumps will be installed in all the nine wards and that water kiosks with 20 lire tanks will also be installed in the wards.

He said that this will ensure people drink clean water which would also be supplied in markets as each market will have a borehole and tank installed.

He said that in some wards where piped water can be done, trenches have already been dug and soon the installation will be done.

“Boreholes with hand pumps will be installed in all the nine wards of the constituency and Water kiosks with a 20k liter tank will also be installed in all wards.

“In some wards where piped water can be done, trenches have already been dug and soon the installation will be done, “ he said.
