KANCHIBIYA TO GET COMMUNICATION TOWERS

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

KANCHIBIYA will be among the districts that will benefit from the 1,000 communication towers that the Government will erect across the country.

Kanchibiya Parliamentary candidate Sunday Chanda announced this when he addressed residents in the constituency.

Mr Chanda said the constituency would be among the areas that would be upgraded in the area Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure.

The PF in its 2021-2026 manifesto provides for the putting up of an additional 1000 communication towers across the country.

There was a 25.7 per cent increase in the number of communication sites between June 2019 and June 2020 and in the third quarter of 2020, internet penetration stood at 57 per cent, accounting for over 10,222 million internet users.

“We are happy about this development because this will help increase network connectivity especially in rural areas that have for a long time not had it.

“From the 1000 towers, the people of Kanchibiya have a share. I want all the areas in Kanchibiya to have connectivity,” he said.

Mr Chanda said issues of non-connectivity in the constituency would be a thing of the past.

He further assured the residents constituents that he would complete all the projects his predecessor had embarked on.

Mr Chanda said it was his duty to ensure that he completed the construction of schools, hospitals that were started by the former MP.

He however appealed to the people of Kanchibiya to work with him in order for development to be actualised in the area.
