HAKAINDE Hichilema’s claims that he was shot at and survived an assassination attempt is reckless, inflammatory and has the potential to plunge the nation into anarchy and civil unrest, PF media director Antonio Mwanza has said.
Mr Mwanza said Mr Hichilema’s claims in a posting on his Facebook page fit so well in the UPND strategy which was anchored on a desperate attempt to solicit public sympathy.
Mr Mwanza said the “lies” were a scheme to cause civil strife and public despondency.
“However, Zambians ought to know that such tactics are very dangerous as they can lead to a total breakdown of the rule of law and put the country in flames,” he said.
He said it was not the first time Mr Hichilema was making claims of assassination attempts.
“In the 2019 during the Sesheke by-election the UPND concocted a similar story,” Mr Mwanza said.
Not long ago, he was claiming police wanted to poison him.
“His claims of assassination go back for as long as he has been attempting to get to State House,” Mr Mwanza said.
