VEEP URGES LEADERS TO SLAM VIOLENCE

By Jackson Mapapayi

Vice President Inonge Wina has urged political leaders to come out in the open and condemn violence.

Ms Wina said during this campaign period, there is need to avoid politics of confrontation and antagonism.

She said all the perpetrators should be condemned especially that they are committing violence with impunity hence the need to condemn it in the strongest term.

“Only last week, in Western province,  a man was killed by UPND cadres simply because he was passing near a place where they were holding a meeting ,” said Ms Wina.

She said there is too much intolerance in the Zambian politics which needs to be condemned by all well-meaning Zambians.

“We need peace during this campaign period, we need  to respect each other,  we need to respect freedom of other political parties,” she said.

She was speaking when she addressed PF members who came to welcome her at Solwezi airport from Zambezi. And North-Western Province PF chairperson Jackson Kungo said the party in the  province is ready to campaign for all its candidates including President Lungu.

And Presidential running mate Prof Nkandu Luo said what distinguishes the PF from opposition political parties is that the opposition are making promissory notes while the PF will be telling electorates what it has done and what it intends to do.

Meanwhile, former UPND Namwala Member of Parliament Moono Lubezi said UPND does not respect loyalty, commitment to the party as well as hard work.
