BRIGHTON WANTS MWEPU

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

ENGLISH Premier League (EPL) outfit Brighton and Hove Albion have expressed interest to sign Zambia’s Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Enock Mwepu.

According to reports, Brighton want  to sign the 23-year-old Zambian international star in a swoop similar to Leicester’s signing of forward Patson Daka, his close friend and team-mate with the Austrian champions.

Mwepu, who joined Salzburg from Kafue Celtic in 2017 still has three years remaining on his contract with the Austrian giants.

Unconfirmed reports suggests that Brighton are willing to pay in excess of £20 million to take the enterprising midfielder to the EPL.

Mwepu, who has scored 11 goals in 103 games for Salzburg was left out of his club’s latest pre-season friendly ahead of a possible move.

Salzburger24 reported he was then released from camp due to contract negotiations with another club and highlighted the good relationship between Albion and Red Bull.

The Chipolopolo star who played and scored in last week’s friendly against Slovak outfit Streda has been a transfer target for several clubs including German giants Borussia Dortmund since he featured for Salzburg in the Champions League group stages last season against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, having made his debut in the competition the previous season in a 4-3 defeat by Liverpool at Anfield.
