CHIEFS URGED TO MIRROR CHRISTIAN VALUES

Kasama Diocese Archbishop Ignatius Chama has called on traditional leaders to remain steadfast and always seek God’s guidance in their leadership, be it in good and bad times.

Archbishop Chama further called on chiefs to be a good mirror of Christianity in their chiefdoms by putting God first in leadership.

The Catholic cleric said this at the weekend during the installation ceremony of Luke Kangwa, who was installed as Senior Chief Mwamba of the Bemba speaking of Kasama district.

The was installed under the title of Kankangala wabantu number 2.

Meanwhile, Senior Chief Mwamba thanked Government for fostering development in his chiefdom such as the rehabilitation of the road, electrification of the area and construction of Mwamba Rural Health Clinic.

The traditional leader who spoke through Installation Committee Chairperson Luke Mutale, however, bemoaned the poor state of the palace and appealed to Government to build a palace.

At the same function, Northern Province Permanent Secretary Royd Chakaba called on traditional leaders to remain united and foster national development together with the Government of the day. Mr Chakaba called on traditional leaders to be the unifying factor of people in a bid to promote peace and harmony in the country.

He pledged government’s commitment to uplift the welfare of traditional leaders in the province by building them decent houses.
