KK TO BE BURIED AT EMBASSY PARK

By NOEL IYOMBWA

LATE first republican President Kenneth Kaunda will be buried at Embassy Park as earlier announced, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga has said.

Mr Malupenga said the programme had not changed from what was announced earlier.

This follows media reports that the family had rejected Government plans to bury Dr Kaunda at Embassy Park on account that his wish was to buried next to his wife Betty at State Lodge.

“The programme of  Dr Kaunda’s burial is still as we announced it, nothing has changed,” he said.

And Kaweche Kaunda, the fifth born son of Dr Kaunda has distanced himself from media reports attributed to him that the family had rejected the burial site reserved for Dr. Kaunda at Embassy Park.

Kaweche stated that all family matters relating to the funeral and burial of Dr. Kaunda were being communicated to the media and the public by the eldest son of the family, Colonel Panji Kaunda.

He expressed surprise that his private views on the matter were communicated in a newspaper article without his authority.

Kaweche insisted that if any family decision was made on the matter, Col Kaunda would communicate the position.
