NERIAS DONATES K500, 000 ‘TOOLS’ TO DOCTORS

NERIAS Investments Limited has donated medical supplies worth K500, 000 to medical doctors of Zambia through the Zambia Medical Association to support them during their daily  work.

Among the donated items are Glucometers and oximeters to be used to monitor vital key signs in patients.

Handing over the donation, Nerias Investments  general manager Martin Chaikatisha said Nerias has also empowered the doctors with durable sugar monitoring tools and extra strips that are key in treatment and monitoring of COVID-19 patients.

Mr Chaikatisha explained that the oximeters help to measure oxygen levels which is a vital sign used in monitoring of Covid-19 patients.

Mr Chaikatisha observed that medical doctors do a lot of work in securing the lives of the people, therefore the need to support their work.

He is hoping that the donated items will enable them in saving many lives and help them in executing their work diligently and efficiently.

He however called on stakeholders to join hands with the government in providing both technical and financial support.

And Zambia Medical Association secretary general Dr Masiku Phiri said the association is working tirelessly to remedy the gaps and lapses that they note in the  healthcare system coverage of medical doctors who fall ill.

Dr Phiri stated that no doctor should die in undignified circumstances and as an executive they will not relent to put a cap on it.
