By NOEL IYOMBWA

SIOMA independent parliamentary candidate, Albert Mundia, is alleged to have fired gunshots and has confirmed that he is on the run.

And Police said 15 people have been arrested for malicious Damage to Property and Riotous behavior in Sioma following counter accusations in which police received a report from PF candidate, Mbololwa Subulwa that she was attacked by Mr Mundia while he also reported that he was attacked Ms Subulwa and her supporters.

Police spokesperson, Esther Katongo said officers visited both scenes of crime and invited the two candidates but Mr Mundia did not turn up.

When contacted by Daily Nation, Mr Mundia said that he could not comment on the matter because he was on the run and promised to call later.

“I will call you later because I am moving from one place to another I am on the run,” he said.

On Wednesday night, Mr Mundia allegedly fired at PF candidate Mbololwa Subulwa’s vehicle as she was coming from campaigns.

Ms Subulwa was accused of using Government vehicles during her campaign.

Ms Subulwa explained that in the early hours of Wednesday while coming from a campaign with her young sister and driver, they spotted a vehicle following them.

She said after a while they decided to stop and confront the people, but to her surprise the person who dropped from the car was Mr Mundia and his nephew Imataa Kanfinsa who started accusing her of using Government vehicles in her campaigns.

Ms Subulwa said despite showing proof that the vehicle she was using in the campaign was rented from a private company, they insisted it was for the District Commissioner.

She said while she was talking to Mr Mundia, his nephew produced a gun and started threatening her that it was her time to go.

“When he removed the gun, I thought he was just trying to intimidate me and the people I was with, of which I told him to behave and return the gun in the vehicle for everyone’s safety.

“But he continued to make threats and we decided to return to the vehicle and left thinking that it was over only to hear three gunshots and a bump on our vehicle,” she said.

She explained that after the incident, she speedily drove back home waiting for daybreak so that she could file a formal report to the police.

“I was shocked to wake up to a story going round that I was the one that attacked Mr Mundia when in fact not,” Ms Subulwa said.

And Ms Katongo said when Ms Subulwa showed up at the Police, cadres for Mr Mundia and some UPND cadres were alleged to have gone to the police post in numbers after blocking roads and tried to attack her but was rescued by police.

She said the unruly cadres were alleged to have later gone to the PF’s candidate’s house where they aallegedly broken 11 window panes to her house and damaged her motor vehicle.

“Police managed to apprehend 15 suspects who are in police custody for Malicious Damage to Property and Riotious behaviour.  They will appear in court soon,” she said.
