THREE people in Kitwe including a teacher have been arrested after they sneaked into examination room to sit for some subjects on behalf of pupils.

The three, two men and one lady, have been detained for alleged examination malpractice after impersonating registered candidates in an examination.

Copperbelt Commissioner of Police, Elias Chushi, confirmed the incident which occurred on Monday at Malela Secondary School.

Mr Chushi identified the suspects as Isaac Lyumbo aged 32 of Kwacha township, who is a teacher at Eagle Flight Private School and Hussein Mwasapi unemployed and aged 21of house number 1702 Kwacha township.

Also detained is Christabel Choowa 30, an examination candidate and an accomplice to the offence.

Mr Chushi said Lyumbo impersonated a registered candidate of examination number 52688152680201 bearing the names Munyemba Christopher Barry, who is also a Kwacha resident while Mwasapi allegedly impersonated Mweetwa Mayas, a registered candidate of examination no. 52688152680110.

“I can confirm a case of impersonation in which Lyumbo impersonated a registered candidate of examination number 52688152680201 whose names are Munyemba Christopher Barry, who is also a Kwacha resident, while Mwasapi impersonated Mweetwa Mayas a registered candidate of examination number 52688152680110.

“This was at a time when they sat for English paper two and in both incidents the suspects replaced their photos on the National registration cards for the registered candidates,’’ Mr Chushi said.
