OVER 500 people took advantage of the Presidential victory celebrations in the early hours of the morning and invaded KansenseliGold Mine in Mwinilunga to steal Gold.
The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday between 03:00 and 06:00 hours as people celebrated the declaration of President -elect Hakainde Hichilema.
But quick action from Zambia Police Service officers and the military managed to disperse the crowd who did not get away with any equipment or gold from the mine.
Meanwhile, five people have been arrested for looting at Kyawama Market in Solwezi after some criminals took advantage of the UPND election victory celebrations to loot some shops.
And North-Western Province Police Commissioner, Joel Njase has warned criminals who are pretending to be UPND party officials and committing crimes to stop.
Mr. Njase said the Police will continue conducting patrols across the province and urged the public to be security alert as they celebrate the election outcome in peace.
