UPND U-TURNS ON EARLIER POSITION REGARDING STATEHOUSE

President Hakainde Hichilema transition- press secretary Antony Bwalya says the President will move into State House.

Bwalya asked Zambians to be patient as the UPND government executes all protocols relating to where the President will take up residence.

The UPND has come under criticism following a statement from party secretary general Batuke Imenda that President Hichilema will not shift from his private home in new Kasama to State House.

Members of the public have taken to social media and argued that President Hichilema should move to State House for purposes of security.

Others have argued that his private residence is bigger and comfortable for the President.

But Bwalya told Mellenium Radio that where the President lives or works from, are matters of state protocol and will be delt with according to State protocols.

And for Presidential aid Dickson Jere said President Hichilema will eventually move to State House and that the matter of where he stayed was not for UPND to decide.

“You know when you become the President you cease to be a private person and therefore because of the upgrade of security to they put is not for one person it is for presidents,” he said.

He said the statement by the party on matter was mere wish and that no president wished to shift but that government protocols dictated so.
