AVAP blasts opportunists for jumping to ruling party
By ROGERS KALERO
POLITICIANS jumping from the opposition to the ruling party after general elections must be rejected because their conduct clearly indicates that they are in politics for personal interests, the Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has said
AVAP Copperbelt Coordinator, Poster Jumbe, said such recycled politicians should be rejected because they were not adding value to the country’s democracy and were also taking people for granted.
Mr Jumbe was reacting to former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Secretary General Mwenya Musenge who had rejoined his party after he had earlier rejoined the PF.
In rejoining the NDC, Mr Musenge showered praises on President Hakainde Hichilema and urged the NDC members to continue supporting the UPND government.
But Mr Jumbe said some politicians were not trustworthy and so they be rejected to stop the rot of political prostitution.
“It is disappointing that most of our senior politicians are the ones who have become political prostitutes with no shame at all. Today they are in the opposition, the following day after elections, he or she starts singing praises of the new government before joining it
“Even if politics is about numbers, I think the conduct of some of these senior politicians tells you a story that they are not trust worthy and do not add value in our democracy. So, such politicians must be rejected,” Mr Jumbe said.
He said it was sad that some senior politicians had reduced themselves to ‘praise singers’ while seeking employment and other favours from the UPND government and President Hakainde Hichilema.
Last week, Mr Musenge rejoined the NDC and urged its members to work hard and bring numbers to the UPND alliance.
