KALULUSHI Municipal Council has procured various new machinery with the aim of enhancing service delivery in waste management and road maintenance.
The machinery procured include two tipper trucks at the cost of K3.3 million and one skip loader costing K1.6 million which were acquired using locally generated funds whereas one tractor was procured at K682, 740 using Local Government Equalization Funds.
Last year in December, Kalulushi Municipal Council bought a grader at a total cost of K2.5 million using locally generated funds.
Council Assistant Public Relations Manager, Lidah Kamanga, said with the procurement of the machinery, the council would enhance solid waste management.
Ms Kamanga said the proper equipment was intended for waste collection from households in Kalulushi to the dumpsite.
“This will also allow the local authority to meet its waste management target since there is now equipment dedicated to this service.
“The machinery will also be useful for road works as the Council can now routinely work on the roads which will ultimately lead to an improved road network in the district,” she said.
Ms Kamanga also reminded residents to refrain from engaging in indiscriminate waste disposal.
She said it was important that residents made use of council waste management services in order to Keep Kalulushi Clean, Green and Healthy.
