VILLAGERS in Kanchibiya have assured President Edgar Lungu and the PF leadership a 100 per cent vote in this ear general elections.

The villagers Mbati Ward were happy that the PF had adopting Sunday Chanda as parliamentary candidate for the constituency and promised to give him victory.

They have therefore assured President Lungu and Mr Chanda a 100 percent vote because they had no doubt that the constituency would undergo transformation.

Mbati Ward is about 80 kilometers away from Mpika-Kasama road and is one of the largest wards in the constituency with about 30 villages.

The villagers told the Daily Nation in an interview that having another Member of Parliament (MP) in Mr Chanda in the area was long overdue.

“We are happy that our voices will now be heard as the people of Kanchibiya especially here in Mbati ward. We are confident that once elected as Member of Parliament, Mr Chanda will always speak for us in terms of what we need as a constituency.

“He has for some time now been helping us and even performing duties of an MP even before he was adopted to be our representative in parliament,” one of the villagers Gloria Mulenga said.

Ms Mulenga said the constituency was lagging in many areas with development not being an exception stating that change was all they wanted.

Another villager, Dainess Chola, said she was happy that the party leadership had listened to their cries and decided to adopt Mr Chanda as candidate for the constituency.

Ms Chola said the area did not have adequate schools, health centres, a market among other social amenities.

She further called on Mr Chanda to consider constructing a market for them so that they could sell their produce stating that those that came from other townships to buy from them were paying them little money.

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda assured the villagers that Government would deliver the much-needed development in the area.

Mr Chanda said he would continue supporting the needs of the constituents as it was his duty to do so.

He directed the District Chairperson to organise the villagers in groups according to the number of villages in the ward so that empowerment programs for women, men as well as the youth could easily be accessed.
