THE MUFULIRA – MOKAMBO ROAD CONTRACT MUST BE TERMINATED – HON. MUMBA
… as Mufulira residents gets agitated over the delay to finish the works by the Zambian contractor Swift Cargo despite being fully paid.
Kantanshi member of parliament Hon. Dr. Anthony Mumba has called for the immediate termination of contract for the Zambian contractor working on the 22 kilometer Mufulira – Mokambo road project.
Speaking when he featured on Mafken radio this morning, Hon. Mumba said the contractor, Swift Cargo has clearly shown that it has no capacity to complete the Mokambo Road Project.
He said what is even more frustrating was the fact that the contractor has been fully paid K30 million for the project but has failed to deliver.
The Kantanshi lawmaker says he remains resolute to ensure that the contract is cancelled and given to a more competent contractor because the people of Mufulira have suffered enough.
Hon. Mumba also disclosed that earlier this week he met the minister of infrastructure Hon. Charles Milupi over same matter.
And Mufulira residents who called into the radio programme echoed Hon. Mumba’s call to have the contractor’s contract terminated.
The callers said Swift Cargo must be made to account for the money Government spent on the project and called on law enforcement agencies to take interest in the matter.
The notorious Mokambo road project has stalled for many years and becomes impassable during rainy season and becomes dusty during dry season.
