TRUCK RAMS INTO SABINA-KALULUSHI TOLL BOOTHS

By ROGERS KALERO

OPERATIONS at the Sabina-Kalulushi toll gate have been suspended after a road traffic accident in which a truck laden with potatoes hit and destroyed one of the booths.

The road traffic accident left two toll gate operators battling for their lives at Kalulushi General Hospital and Sinozam Friendship Hospital.

Copperbelt Permanent Secretary, Bright Nundwe, confirmed the incident.

He said the toll operators, who were inside the booth at the time of the accident, were injured and rushed to the two hospitals.

Mr Nundwe said no money was lost after the accident but the booth has been completely destroyed

“I can confirm that we had a road traffic accident at Sabina-Kalulushi Toll-gate in which a truck laden with potatoes hit and destroyed one of the booths at the toll gate.

“The two operators, who were inside the booth at the time of the accident, were injured and rushed to  Kalulushi General Hospital and Sinozam Friendship hospitals,’’ Mr Nundwe said

Mr Nundwe said it was unfortunate that the driver of the truck did not do enough to avoid the accident.

Driver of the truck, Abraham Kamanga, of Jonda Transport of Chipata said he could not see properly when he was passing the booth due to overloading and ended up bashing the booths.
