Cadrerism still being tackled, says minister

THE management of cadres in bus stations and markets is halfway solved because we are still dealing with the remnants of the gloried cadres, says Local Government and Rural Development minister, Garry Nkombo.
Mr. Nkombo said cadrerism was glorified in the bus stations and markets because it was a livelihood and taking away one’s means of income despite it being an illegality should be dealt with cautiously.
Speaking when he featured on ZNBC Sunday interview, Mr. Nkombo said in the past, cadres lived in glory because they thrived on exploiting people in bus stations and markets.
Mr. Nkombo however assured that the battle was slowly being won following President Hakainde Hichilema’s pronouncement that the UPND leadership would not tolerate caderism.
Mr. Nkombo acknowledged that people in bus stations and markets are still living in fear but assured that was a thing of the past because President Hichilema has made it clear that UPND members engaged in cadrism would face the law on their own.
And Mr. Nkombo clarified that no single cadre would be allowed to manage the affairs of the board that would be constituted in bus stations and markets.
