LEAVE AFRICA ALONE TO RESOLVE ISSUES, RB TELLS WEST

By ADRIAN MWANZA

FORMER Republican President Rupiah Banda has challenged western countries to let Zambians and Africans sort out their issues without interference.

Mr Banda said that if given an opportunity, Africa could resolve its issues amicably without the help of western countries.

“If you leave us Africans to find solutions to our problems, we can do it very well even without the help of Western countries,” he said.

Mr Banda said Zambia was a beacon of peace and the rest of the world needed to learn how she has managed  to mentain peace.

He said the peaceful transition of power from president Edgar Lungu to MrHakainde Hichilema was a big statement even when most people were anticipating something else.

Mr Banda said that losing power was a difficult thing but that he had put the interests of Zambians first that was why he conceded defeat to President Michael Sata.

And Mr Banda said that there was need to bring political violence to an end and that he hoped that it would fizzle out with the coming of the New Dawn Government.

He said political violence was a world-wide phenomenon but that as Zambia there was need to put an end to it because Zambians were tired of the scourge.
