PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has set up a Mukula task force to look into the reported illegal harvesting and trading of Mukula.
President Hichilema said that the team comprised himself, the vice president , a number of ministers and other senior officials that would look at the matter in its entirety.
He said there was need to look into the cancer of Mukula trade which was conducted dubiously by people who were connected.
Mr Hichilema said that the aim of the task force would be to bring sanity in the timber trade which was marred with corruption.
‘’The task force is going to look at the issue of Mukula trade which has been marred by illegality and the cancer needs to be nipped in the bud,’’ he said.
Meanwhile the President said that the new dawn government also wanted to normalise the fertiliser distribution in the country.
He said that some provinces like Southern and Western provinces were not receiving appropriate numbers because it was a political persecution.
Mr Hichilema said that his government would do away with such discriminatory tendencies and that the commodity would be distributed equitably in all the 10 provinces.
‘’We are going to look into the matter and be able to do away with all the discriminatory tendencies that were being exhibited by the previous regime,’’ he said.
The President also said that he had managed to get 1.6 million Covid-19 vaccines just from the trip he had made to the US.
And on the issue of free education Mr Hichilema said that his government did not overpromise Zambians but that priority would be given to high performers.
He said that they would positively discriminate and that only those with good grades would be given free education.
