ALL SET FOR MONDAYS DAY OF PRAYER ,FASTING AND REPENTANCE AT NATIONAL, PROVINCIAL AND DISTRICT LEVELS

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER NATIONAL ORGANISING COMMITTEE

Press Release
Saturday 16th October, 2021
ALL SET FOR THE 2021 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, FASTING, REPENTANCE AND
RECONCILIATION- MONDAY, 18thOCTOBER, 2021
On behalf of participating Church Mother Bodies and all Organizing Committees
country-wide (that is at national, provincial and district levels), the National Organising
Committee is pleased to announce the completion of nearly all major preparations for
the 18th October National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation annual
commemorations.

This year’s commemoration is unique in that it comes after a grueling third wave of the
COVID19 pandemic, coupled with an intense electioneering period that, despite evident
challenges, saw the peaceful transfer of leadership at the highest national level.

It is therefore imperative that, as Zambians, we come together and thank God for his
sovereign providence during the pandemic and indeed the peaceful national leadership
transition he graciously granted to us. We must seize the moment also to unite and
come before God in humility and repentance, as we seek his divine help through prayers
and intercessions regarding our current needs as a nation.
The commemoration is being observed under the theme- “Zambia Seeks Sustained
Unity for Shared Prosperity,” based on Psalms 133, Jeremiah 29:11 and 2 Chronicles
7:14.
The main event will be held in Lusaka at the Lusaka Show grounds starting at 08:00
hours and will be televised on ZNBC, while Provincial and District centres will hold the
commemorations variously at selected places.
The Committee wishes to call upon all Zambians, regardless of political affiliation, to
join and pray for the nation on this important day. Let us come together and worship
God in the spirit of love and oneness, demonstrating our cherished One Zambia, One
Nation ideal.

While the call is open to all, invitation cards are being distributed to key dignitaries and
institutions as per usual courtesy. This includes present and past Government leaders,
Service chiefs, political parties, church leaders, traditional leaders, representatives of
the Diplomatic Corps, to mention but a few.
We grateful to the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Office of the Vice President
for the invaluable support rendered to the Church thus far, towards these vital preparations.
A gentle reminder that all who attend are requested kindly to observe the five golden rules for COVID19 prevention, despite the recently announced lifting of some applicable restrictions.
May God continue to bless our nation.
Issued by:
National Organising Committee, Chairperson
Bishop Dr. Joshua HK. Banda. Lusaka.
