PF confident of scooping Kaumbwe seat

By KALOBWE BWALYA

THE former ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has expressed confidence of scooping the Kaumbwe parliamentary seat bye -election slated for this month.

PF secretary general Davies Mwila has said although the party was out of power people are still confident it will still deliver for the people of Kaumbwe.

In an interview, Mr Mwila said the party is very confident of retaining the parliamentary seat as there is no competition from other candidates.

Mr Mwila said without any doubt PF will carry the day as the party has done enough ground work to retain the seat.

He has since called for issue-based campaigns ahead of the elections, stating that they will engage in non-violent campaigns and has challenged other political parties taking part in the elections to tell the people the truth instead of engaging in character assassination.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set October 21, 2021 as the date for elections for Kaumbwe parliamentary bye-elections in Petauke and other four local government wards in various districts of the country.

ECZ would also conduct council chairperson elections for Chisamba and Lusanganzi. The election in Kaumbwe followed the death of UPND candidate Boniface Khondowe on July 20.
