Chief Sandwe of Lusangazi district, Eastern Province said the Patriotic Front (PF) is still fertile on the ground.
The traditional leader said majority voters especially in Eastern Province who voted against PF have realised that the ruling party has failed them.
Chief Sandwe said people have resorted to turn back to the former ruling party.
Chief Sandwe said people in his chiefdom have resorted to side with the former ruling party because what was promised during campaigns nothing has been done and their lives are still the same.
“The PF is still fertile on the ground. And we need a strong opposition for democracy to flourish,”he said.
And the traditional leader advised the PF leadership to restrain their cadres from avenging on the violence being perpetrated by the UPND.
He said people are able to see that the UPND are violent.
Chief Sandwe said it is saddening that the UPND can only resort to evil acts.
“Don’t strike back, leave them continue with their violent behaviour people are able to see,” he said.
Meanwhile PF Vice President Given Lubinda said the escalating violence by the UPND is unacceptable.
He said the UPND leadership claimed that PF was violent when in fact their members are the ones who are violent.
He further said it is shocking that the police are failing to act on people injuring people.
“Yesterday I was attacked after a radio programme your Highness and we reported but nothing tangible is being done by the police.
There is a video circulating were UPND members are threatening to kill me, we gave the video to police but no one has been arrested,” he said.
