Samu Lyamoomba celebration set for Oct 28

THE long awaited Samu Lya Moomba celebration which was supposed to be held on Independence Day but postponed to November 7, 2021 will now be held this Thursday, October 28, 2021.
The celebration which is expected to be graced by President Hakainde Hichilema will take place in Chief Choongo’s area of Monze district as earlier announced.
Southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa has confirmed the development to the Daily Nation in Livingstone.
“Dear colleagues, this is to officially let you know that Samu Lyamoombafunction will take place this Thursday, October 29, 2021 in Monze District,” he announced.
And Bweengwa Member of Parliament Michelo Kasauta has said that President Hichilema is expected to attend the 2021 Samu Lya Moomba ceremony.
The Bweengwa lawmaker explained that the Samu Lya Moomba is important not only to the people of Monze but Zambians at large as it was used during the independence struggle.
Samu Lya Moomba is a tree area in Monze District, Chief Choongo’s area which was used by the Ila and Tonga people to gather their animals which were later sold to raise money to enable the Freedom Fighters to travel to England to get the White paper of the Zambian Constitution.
