UPND cadres have attacked the Socialist Party camp in Kaumbwe injuring four people and damaging one of its vehicles.
Socialist Party president Fred M’membe said that two Toyota Land Cruisers being driven by UPND cadres attacked the SP camp who were sleeping and in the processinjured four people including two ladies and two men one of whom was a 70-year-old man.
Mr M’membe said that the attack happened around 01: 00 hours and wondered the reasons for the attack because the SP members were sleeping and could not have provoked anyone.
He said no one was above the law and that the police needed to act by bringing the culprits to book for their heinous crimes.
“Our members were sleeping and four have been seriously injured, two ladies and two men, totally unprovoked. The intentions, we do not know, we thought this would be a thing of the past,” he said.
He also said that his party members were attacked by UPND cadres in Katotoma, Lufubu ward in Mwansabombwe causing some injuries to least two people.
“Please let’s do everything possible as leaders to put an end to political violence,’ he said.
Mr M’membe said no one was above the law and that the police needed to be impartial when handling the matter.
He said that the UPND just like the PF, were equally violent and taking matters in their own hands with too much impunity.
